Wherein I Am Tagged, and Against My Very Nature, Tag Others.

Okay, so these are the conditions of the meme for which I was tagged by [personal profile] tielan:

1. People who have been tagged must write the answers on their blog and replace any questions they dislike with a new original question.
2. Tag eight people. Don't refuse that. Don't tag who tagged you.

I don't particularly to be a party pooper. I'll gladly do the meme. I replaced a question I thought was a little silly with some alternate silliness. I'll even tag eight people. But since I hate to won't demand that people pass it on if they don't want to, and there are no stated restrictions on changing the rules, here are my rules for the meme, changes bolded:

1. People who have been tagged may write the answers on their blog and replace any questions they dislike with a new original question.
2. If you want to, tag eight people. Don't refuse that. The originator would certainly like you to, if you could do it in good conscience. Don't tag who tagged you.
3. If you see this and want to play, but I didn't tag you, join in! The more the merrier!

All right and tight? Okay. Ready, Steady, Go!

Tagging:
[personal profile] sue_c because she seldom posts here. Come play!
[personal profile] beatrice_otter because you often have very thinky thoughts.
[personal profile] draco_somnians because she enjoys a good meme from time to time.
[livejournal.com profile] a_loquita because I'm sure her answers will entertain.
[livejournal.com profile] not_a_zatarc because sometimes she forgets to come and play on live journal.
[livejournal.com profile] wanderingsmith because your recent post on seal slaughter lead me to a headline about the mention celebrity's forthcoming album, story here dated April 15th not April 1st and that's just wrong on so many levels!
[livejournal.com profile] ansostuff because she enjoys a good meme from time to time.

and last, but certainly not least:

[livejournal.com profile] bluewillowtree because she too often likes to join in and play, and somebody needs to join in!

I'm (Theoretically, VERY Theoretically) Baaaaack!!!

Wednesday was the Third Time of Asking for our phone company. We would kind of like a consistent and stable dial tone. We've been without that for more than a week. They were supposed to send someone out to the house today. I haven't seen anyone, but then I haven't been home all the day long. We haven't been without dial tone since 3:15 or so Friday afternoon, and it is Saturday at 2:50 a.m., so maaayyybeee they actually fixed it this time. Or not. We'll see. Kinda hard to tell when the problem is of the "now you have it, now you don't" variety.

I come bearing a meme to celebrate. I stole it from the lj of [profile] tarimanveri who knows me not, but upon whose journal I lurk because her tails of grad student life are a pleasant reminder of what it was like when I too was a grad student, once upon a time, and she shares some common interests, and seems to be an all around Good Egg. The meme is about books and what I read and what I like. It was obviously designed originally by an academic, or at least someone fairly highbrow in their literary tastes, so if you are expecting to find out all about what I read when I'm slumming it, you'll be largely, but not entirely, disappointed. The upside is, if you are looking for ammunition to make the case that I am a geek, you will be amply rewarded. Amply. Be warned that I have an irritating habit of not choosing just one single book in answer to the question. There are too many in my world for that. T.M.I. here. )

Edited because I misspelled "tarimanveri". Bad Thothmes! Do unto others, Thothmes!
