thothmes: Siler saying "Damn! And me without my wrench!" (Siler - Damn - No Wrench)
From: [personal profile] thothmes
We're fine. Now we're at the stage of realizing just exactly how lucky we are. My 16 year old knows of 3 friends at least who are homeless. We've been trying to declutter the house enough that we can offer to take in one of the people who are currently living in the emergency shelter in the elementary school for lack of an alternative. Vermonters being the lovely people we've found them to be, I suspect that by the time we have our act together, everyone will have found a place to stay, but it is important to make the effort.

To Know the Dark

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
To know the dark, go dark. Go without sight,
and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is travelled by dark feet and dark wings.
-Wendell Berry

Up in the morning's no for me,
Up in the morning early;
When a' the hills are covered wi' snaw,
I'm sure it's winter fairly.
-Robert Burns

Visit to the Hermit Ts'ui

Moss covered paths between scarlet peonies,
Pale jade mountains fill your rustic windows.
I envy you, drunk with flowers,
Butterflies swirling in your dreams.
-Ch'ien Ch'i

Mistress of high achievement, O lady Truth,
do not let my understanding stumble
across some jagged falsehood.

Every Gaudy colour
Is a bit of truth.

All well defined, and several stinks.
